No Books Were Harmed creates every piece of their book art sculptures by making hundreds—or thousands!—of careful folds within the pages of reclaimed, preowned, and vintage hardcover books. It's all folded. Nothing you see has been cut, torn, or otherwise "trickified!"
This page is for any six-digit (eight-character, including dashes) date of your choice. It’s a great way to make the date of a new child’s birth, a wedding date, or another day of significance for the recipient. Please enter the characters EXACTLY as you want them to appear. You may use numerals and the dash only. If you have any questions, please contact us.
If you are looking for something other than a date, you can order your own Custom Folded Book Art.
When you place your order, this book will be hand-folded for you by Jo at No Books Were Harmed in Scotland. We estimate three weeks for your custom book to arrive at our Provincetown store, at which time it will be shipped to you. Any other items in your order will be shipped immediately. If you need this item in less than one month, please contact us before placing your order to see if we can accommodate your request.
This item is a PREORDER, per the notes above. Because the item you purchase will be custom made, it will vary significantly in appearance and will be shipped at a later date.
About No Books Were Harmed
About No Books Were Harmed
The fast folding fingers of No Books Were Harmed belong to Jo who describes herself as a self taught, full-time designer/maker of no-cut, hand folded, reclaimed book art sculpture. Jo, who lives in Mosstodloch in the northeast of Scotland, is a one-woman show, so if you buy folded book art from Repurposed, she is the one who did the folding.
An avid bibliophile, Jo had no interest or experience in crafts when one day she started folding the pages of her precious books. That, at first, may seem incongruous for a self-proclaimed book-lover, but by turning unwanted books into art, she revitalizes them, gives them a new life.
She never intended this to be a business. In fact, she turned down offers to buy some of her first creations! But eventually she relented and registered the name No Books Were Harmed. One year later (to the day!), she left her day job of 20 years and her passion became her life's work.
One of the most frequently asked questions at Repurposed is about the folded book art: How does she do it? Have a look!
