This bank has a slot in the back, ready for your coins and bills, and an authentic antique post office box door made of bronze on the front. This is the first time we’ve had this particular door design, which is called Starway. The front has a large window with US on the front, and an eight-pointed star with a combination dial in the middle. Unlike all of the other banks, there are no numbers or letters for the combination on the front, but we’ll tell the owner how to open it. There is no writing on the inside, but the maker says it’s from around 1902.
Handmade in California by the Wood Mason, the door is inset into the gorgeous oak box. With perfectly mitered corners and a rounded back, this is a quality piece of craftsmanship even before the addition of a vintage post office box door. Four felt feet protect your furniture.
