Coming in at only 21 ounces, this heavy duty bag is a true lightweight! The Cargo Backpack is made from upcycled airline life jackets, black seatbelt strap, and black ripstop nylon. Under the double-buckled flap, which has its own hidden zipper pocket, is a 10" wide x 8" deep zipper pocket and the main compartment with a drawstring closure (and an orange emergency whistle). The bag and straps are well-padded, and the interior has a separate pocket suitable for laptops up to 15 inches.

It all started during a holiday flight. Founder Kerstin Rank sat on a plane to London and while watching the flight attendant’s safety demonstration, she asked herself the all important question, "Why aren’t life jackets recycled?"
Airline life preservers are high-tech, lightweight, durable, and, of course, waterproof! The perfect material for bags and accessories, she thought. After further research, Kerstin learned that life jackets are discarded after 8 to 10 years, making them the perfect source for a great new idea.
Since 2010, over 145 tons of life jacket material have been saved from landfill using Bag to Life’s intelligent upcycling system.
