The Army Helmet Turtle was a cool reuse of something that no longer served it's original purpose. The Plug Bugs are adorable. But this... This is the item that made us want to work with Sugarpost. How can we be at the tip of Cape Cod and NOT have a lobster?!

This scrap metal lobster has claws made from locking pliers. You might want to call them Vise-Grips®, but Vise-Grips® is a brand name, so we'll call them locking pliers to avoid any legal action. These Vi-- locking pliers have had the locking side of the handle removed, but they still have the springs in them, so if you squeeze a claw closed, it pops back open, ready to grab you!

The legs and eyes of this cute little crustacean are made from carriage bolts, with the body and tail made from scrap metal. After it's assembled, the entire top (except for those eyes) is spray-painted a bright, bold, but imperfect red, giving it an industrial look.

Because of the weight and extra packaging required to have this delivered to its new home, free shipping is not available for this item

Measurements: Approximately 13" from tip of claw to tail, 10" across from claw to claw, 6.5" tall to the top of its creepy little eyes.

These are made to look very similar or identical. The item you are purchasing should look like the one shown in the picture(s).

About Sugarpost

Based in Salt Lake City, Sugarpost makes "Garden art that doesn't suck."

Artist Fred Conlon was first inspired by a massive pile of old WWII army helmets that he saw at his local military surplus yard. What was intended to be a mascot for his pottery shop ended up becoming a helmet turtle that he reluctantly sold the first day on display, and Sugarpost Metal was on its way.

Sugarpost provides fun metal art to eclectic dreamers in a neighborly environment with a humorous voice, helping them feel joy and replace their boring art. We're often asked, "But will it rust?" It sure will! Sugarpost says it's, "Art that's guaranteed to rust."
